More than 90 classic cars and up to 15 scooters filled a town park to help raise more than £500 for the mayor’s charities.

Classic Vehicles in the Park took place yesterday, Sunday, and Brackley town councillor Chris Cartmell, who organised the event, said he was contacted at midnight on Saturday by someone making a last minute entry.

He said: “I took the call and they said ‘I know it’s late but we would love to be a part of it so can you squeeze us in?’

“It all went off very well and everyone enjoyed themselves.

“Lots of people said they hope we do it again next year and I think we will get a group together to organise it and if we park the cars a bit better, we will be able to squeeze more in.”

A patrol van from the Automobile Association’s (AA) historic collection joined the fleet and the scooters were from Banbury Scooter Club, while Brackley Girl Guides provided refreshments.

Tim Sawyer, from Bicester, said on Facebook: “The location really works well and it seemed to draw in a lot of non-car people. I’ve never had so many people ask me about my car at a show before.

“There was a good mixture of cars, something for everyone.”
