A pre-school which gives children a ‘positive start to their early education’ has been graded good by government inspectors.

Mursley Kingfishers Pre-school in Station Road, Mursley, was considered ‘satisfactory’ after its first Ofsted inspection in 2011.

But the pre-school for 26 children aged two to five has now been rated ‘good’.

The report said: “This small and friendly pre-school gives children a positive start to their early education in a safe, secure and welcoming environment.”

Staff were commended for striking partnerships with parents and for reflecting on their teaching methods while the children were found to make progress in all areas.

It is not yet ‘outstanding’ because there are too few toys, large group story time does not always cater for children’s individual needs and the book corner is not ‘enticing’ enough.

But the full-time centre which opened in 2010 is good because it is ‘effective in delivering provision that meets the needs of all children well’.
