Two girls helped their British Heart Foundation (BHF) shop reach their fundraising target after holding a red and white day at their school.

Buckingham schoolgirls Megan Hicks, of Linden Village, and Louise Lepelletier, of Mount Pleasant, both aged 11, raised just over £200 for the charity.

The girls, who attend Bourton Meadow Academy, presented their donation to the British Heart Foundation shop in Market Hill, and met Buckingham MP John Bercow, who was volunteering at the shop.

Megan told the Advertiser and Review: “We got the school to dress up in red and white and we were getting parents to make extra donations if they wanted to.

“We wanted to help the BHF because people can actually die from heart problems and we wanted to help save lives.”

The donation meant the town’s BHF shop were able to reach their fundraising target.
