Winslow’s new nursery and out-of-school care scheme has its official opening on Wednesday, April 23.
And there’s a chance to see what’s on offer at an open day from 10am to 4pm on Tuesday, April 22.
On the same day, there is a playscheme from 7.30am to 6pm.
Rising Stars Day Care and Out-of-School Care has been set up by Winslow women Sophie Wakeman, aged 23, and Jasmine Ogden, aged 22, following the closure of Winslow Playgroup last year.
The two women, who both worked at Winslow Playgroup, have recruited 19-year-old Ben Townsend, also from WInslow to help in the new venture, based at Winslow Scout Hut.
After a ‘soft’ launch in December, the nursery was visited by Ofsted in March and received its official registration on March 17.
The plan is for the nurseryto be open five days a week from 7.30am to 6pm, starting with a breakfast club and ending with an after-school club, with two three-hour playgroup sessions from 9am to noon and noon to 3pm.
The team already have 36 children on their books for the breakfast and after-school clubs. But, after carrying out a 5,000-leaflet drop throughout Winslow and the surrounding villages, they have no idea yet how many parents will wish to book their children in for the playgroup sessions.
Miss Wakeman, who is about to complete a degree in working with children and young people said;:“It’s really exciting but it’s daunting as well.”
