Northants Police will be holding a special police officer recruitment drive at Brackley’s Tesco on Friday, May 9, and Saturday, May 10.
The information sessions will run from 9am-4pm where prospective volunteers can find out more about what it takes to become a special officer.
Police and Crime Commissioner Adam Simmonds has pledged to enlist an extra 500 specials to support the county’s police force this year.
These volunteers have the same training and powers as regular police officers and can attend the same kind of incidents.
Special constable Sally Thomas said: “We go out with the incident response team and we go to emergency jobs which can be anything from a missing child to a firearms incident.”
She added the force was looking for people who were committed to the job and to their community.
Once a candidate has been vetted they undergo training, which includes a fitness test.
