A fundraising afternoon tea organised by the Midnight Runners Relay For Life team was a huge success, raising £713.52 for Cancer Research UK.
A traditional afternoon tea was served to 42 guests at Buckingham’s Old Gaol, Buckingham, by members of the team.
A selection of finger sandwiches, slices of cakes, scones with jam and cream, Relay for Life cupcakes and a choice of four teas were presented in a vintage-themed, street party-style event.
The money was raised from ticket sales, donations and a raffle held on the day, largely due to the fact that absolutely everything had been donated free of charge by local businesses and individuals alike.
Team member Rachel Taylor said: “From the crockery and cutlery, to the specialist teas and entertainment, from the scones to the smoked salmon and even the butter, the Midnight Runners didn’t have to buy a thing.
“We were absolutely overwhelmed by the level of support we received, both in the run-up to the event and at the event itself, and simply cannot thank those who helped, donated and supported enough.”
The Midnight Runners are now looking forward to their third fundraising event, a black tie ball for 180 people in June, which is already sold out.
