Young teachers are celebrating after receiving their new qualifications from the town mayor at a graduation ceremony.

Bourton Meadow Academy’s 29 trainees from its teacher training course all passed and have secured jobs as newly qualified teachers.

Lisa O’Donoghue, mayor of Buckingham, was on hand to congratulate the trainees who graduate from the course which was graded ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted in March.

The training centre in Linden Village has also been ranked the fourth best teacher training institute in the country by the University of Buckingham and the third best for primary teacher training.

Martyn Kitson, acting executive head, said: “Training graduates to be outstanding teachers from the moment they enter a classroom is our key aim and we are proud that Ofsted recognise this.

“The excellent training programme, unrelenting drive for excellence and the personalisation of the training were just some of the key strengths identified by the inspectors.”
