Award-winning pie-maker Robert Fairbairn gave our video reporter a private masterclass in his culinary art.
Mr Fairbairn, who owns Great Horwood-based Pastilla Pies received a Silver award for his Padbury Pork Pie in the hotly contested sixth annual British Pie Awards, which took place in the pork pie ‘capital’ of Melton Mowbray.
The winning pie was among 825 created by professional bakers and butchers competing at this year’s event, organised and hosted by the Melton Mowbray Pork Pie Association.
The company’s Adstock Pork Pie with Stilton cheese and walnut, won a Bronze.
Mr Fairbairn produces up to 600 a week from a kitchen in Singleborough, where he makes the pies himself, selling them locally at Winslow Farmers’ Market and Buckingham’s Artisan Market.
He is also helped with stock by Padbury Meats, Gary Smith Butchers in Winslow and Woodstocks Artisan Bakery in Stony Stratford.
