They are a cut above the rest and now they are the Advertiser and Review’s Salon of the Year!
Paula Stevens, in Cornwall’s Meadow, in Buckingham received the highest number of votes in the hugely popular Salon of the Year 2014 competition.
The contest, which launched in May, was your chance to vote for the Advertiser and Review region’s number one hair and beauty salon.
And readers wasted no time in getting touch with the newspaper, inundating the newsdesk with nominations.
These were then scaled down to a shortlist of 12 most popular salons – with Paula Stevens being crowned the overall winner.
Advertiser and Review editor Roger Hawes, visited the salon on Thursday to present owner and creative director, Paula Stevens with a certificate.
Said Paula, who runs a second salon in Bicester: “It’s amazing, it really is. I’m overwhelmed to be honest.
“It is the first time we have been entered into something like this. I am immensely grateful for how everyone has voted for us.
“It is a real team effort. I am immensely proud of the team in both Buckingham and Bicester salons. I want to thank everyone who has voted for us and thank my team – they are my greatest asset.”
She added the team and their clients were part of her ‘extended family’ and she believed it was important to get to know your clients.
Paula launched her salon more than 12 years ago. Many of the stylists joined her team as apprentices and are now senior members.
Both Buckingham and Bicester salons are proud of their involvement in the community, holding events for their chosen charities.
The salon in second place was Body Matters, on Well Street with FNKY, in Market Square, in Bicester coming third.
