The hidden treasures of bugs, woodpeckers and butterflies can now be explored on guided walks.

A team of volunteers have been trained for the Stoke Bruerne Canal Partnership to lead wildlife walks, thanks to Heritage Lottery Funding.

So a series of one-hour walks are now open to the public to join, along the canal corridor at Stoke Bruerne in Towcester.

Activities and competitions are planned for participants, who will be able to find out what is lurking in ditches and what green woodpeckers eat for breakfast.

The first walk is planned for Thursday (May 29) when there will be one at 11am and another at 2pm, departing from the Canal Museum.

Terrain can be rough and steep so walkers are advised to wear suitable shoes. Clothing for all weathers is also recommended.

Call 07919571612 or email louise.stockwin@canalrivertrust.org.uk to book places.
