ORGANISERS of the 10th Towcester Midsummer Music Festival are expecting to smash last year’s fundraising total after last weekend’s event.

Every year the town’s community groups, Rotary Club, Centurions, Lions Club and the town council come together to host a weekend of musical entertainment.

David Reed, chairman of the organising committee, said: “The rain was unfortunate, but it didn’t stop people enjoying themselves.

“There were fewer people walking between venues but they were all full, and the feedback was great.

“We also sold more tickets, and got in more sponsorship.”

The festival was opened by mayor David Linney on the town hall steps, after which the Eureka Jazz band paraded up to the Saracen’s Head. Proceeds from this event will go to local causes.
