A WINSLOW man has won a trolleyload of goods in a competition run by the Rotary Club of Buckingham.

Members of the club spent the weekend outside Tesco, on London Road, Buckingham, from December 2 to 4, with the trolley full of goods purchased from the store. Tesco contributed £50 worth of goods.

Customers paid £2 to guess the value of the items. The winner was massage therapist John Holman, from Winslow, whose guess was just 2p away from the correct value of £141.12.

From the proceeds of the competition, the Rotary Club will make a donation towards Tesco’s charity of the year, Alzheimers UK, and the rest of the money raised will be put together with other funds raised over Christmas be distributed to local charities.

Rotary secretary Steve Heywood said: “There will be well over £5,000 going to local charities We’d like to thank the public for being so generous.”
