A NEW walking guide is now available from a Brackley firm after local people were invited to send in their favourite routes.
Award-winning cartographers Global Mapping have chosen 12 of the best local walks in the new guide after asking for suggestions earlier this year.
Managing director Alan Smith said: “We have been asked many times about producing a walking guide for Brackley and thanks to the generosity of South Northants Council who funded the project we have been able to make it.
“Having said that, without the suggestions from residents it wouldn’t have happened, and having walked most of these routes I can only say what good judgement they have shown.”
He added: “We are fortunate to live in a beautiful part of the world and walking through it has to be the best way to appreciate it.”
Routes to and from Brackley take in neighbouring villages including Turweston, Whitfield, Radstone and Hinton-in-the-Hedges.
Other walks outside Brackley visit Syresham, Farthinghoe, Tusmore and Stowe.
The free guide is available from Brackley Information Bureau in Courtyard Mews, but donations will be collected for the Wildlife Trust.
Paintings of flora and fauna by local artist Tracy Smith have been included.
She said: “I love wildlife and help out regularly at Farthinghoe Nature Reserve, which I’m pleased to see is included. Being asked to illustrate this guide was like a dream come true and if we can raise a bit of money for the Wildlife Trust then that would be amazing.”
