A CHURCH in Potterspury has expressed its sadness after being forced to put its former place of worship up for sale.
A spokesman for the United Reformed Church (URC), said The Wood Memorial hall was in need of so much repair and redecoration they had made the decision to apply for planning permission for a change of use with the hope it can be turned into commercial premises and sold.
Oxfordshire based Chartered Surveyors Bankier Sloan have submitted a planning application to South Northants Council, asking permission to turn a church hall in offices or a light industrial workshop. The village already has a popular Village Hall and a sports hall and the Wood Memorial Hall has not been used for some time. Geoff Emmins of the URC said, “We will be sad to see the premises sold however the funds will be put to good use, supporting the work of the church both locally and nationally.
“We are hopeful of obtaining planning permission so that we can offer an excellent home to a local company, which we hope will restore this very attractive property.”
