Town mayor Elaine Wiltshire joined the sod cutting ceremony at the Halse Road site and she is looking forward to seeing the finished article.

She said: “The Brackens promises to be a great place for people to call home and we are really looking forward to seeing how the community develops over the coming years.”

Barratt Homes Northampton is behind the development and its managing director Andrew Swindell also joined the ceremony.

He said: “We are delighted to have begun the build work at our new development in Brackley following much hard work and planning.

“We aim to contribute a great deal to the local area as part of our new development, both in terms of the high-quality homes we will be building and the jobs which will be created.”
