A DISABLED Buckingham youngster is riding high, after a town pub raised more than £1,500 towards the cost of horse riding lessons for him.

The Whale, on Market Hill, held a fundraising Jubilee Day towards riding lessons and equipment for 12-year-old Christopher Skimming.

Christopher, who has cerebral palsy, has low muscle tone on one side of his body and walks with sticks. He has riding lessons at Silverstone Riding School to strengthen his muscles.

The Whale’s Jubilee Day included raffles, games and auctions, raising £1,593.74.

Landlord Clifford Thirkettle said: “We had a great response from local businesses, traders and customers.”

Christopher’s mum, Lesley, said: “It’s been a real help. It’s brought his confidence on no end and he’s made a lot of new friends. And it’s all thanks to the generosity of the local people.

“It’s very touching what everybody did.”
