Young swimmers got the chance to learn from Olympic and Commonwealth athletes at an event in Bicester Leisure Centre on Friday.

The free Oceans of Fun Day, organised by Zoggs Swimwear, featured fast swimmer Grant Turner, water polo player Fran Leighton, and synchronised swimmer Kelly Anne Russell.

The events have been held all over the country.

Olympian Steve Parry, who hosted the first event, said: “They will not only learn a huge amount at these events but get a once in a lifetime chance to swim against a top athlete and, we hope, begin to understand the benefits, and enjoyment, of adopting an active, healthy lifestyle.”

Grant Turner is British record holder for the 4x100m front crawl, while Fran Leighton is the Great Britain women’s water polo team captain, and Kelly Anne Russell is a former senior British duet gold medallist.
