A coroner has recorded an open verdict on a 28-day old baby girl who died at her home in Towcester.

The parents of Poppy Green rushed her to hospital on December 2 last year after they found she had stopped breathing.

An inquest at County Hall on Wednesday heard evidence from pathologist James Padfield, who said the child had been sleeping in the same bed as her parents but stressed he did not believe this contributed to her death.

County Coroner Anne Pember confirmed there was no evidence to suggest “overlaying” was the cause of Poppy’s death, but she took the opportunity to
say all parents should be aware of the dangers of sleeping in the same bed as babies.
