A senior bishop paid a visit to St James & St John Church of England School, in Chackmore, following the school’s recent Outstanding SIAS (Statutory Inspection of Anglican Schools) report.

The school day was extended in order for the Bishop of Oxford, John Pritchard, to join pupils and staff in a celebration assembly.

Afterwards he was able to talk to school staff

After a visit by the team that inspects church schools, St James & St John was deemed Outstanding in all areas.

The inspectors said the school “has a family feeling, where everyone knows and supports one another and everyone is special”.

Headteacher Gill Pedder said: “We were delighted with the report.

We know the strengths of our school but it is wonderful to have them recognised by visitors to our school.”
