Panto stars come out for 2010/11 season
AS summer draws to a close, theatres around the Advertiser and Review region are announcing details of their forthcoming pantomimes for the 2010/11 season.
Tickets are now on sale for Dick Whittington at Milton Keynes Theatre, Cinderella at the Oxford Playhouse, and Jack and the Beanstalk at the Royal and Derngate in Northampton.
Hollywood actor Luke Perry, who starred as Dylan in Beverly Hills 90210, will join Gavin and Stacey star Joanna Page in Milton Keynes for the official launch of Dick Whittington on Tuesday next week.
Following in the footsteps of fellow Hollywood stars Henry Winkler, Pamela Anderson, Mickey Rooney and Steve Guttenberg, Perry is delighted to be coming to Milton Keynes Theatre this Christmas to play panto villain King Rat.
He said: "This will be my first pantomime and I feel privileged to be taking part in something that is such a great British institution."
Joanna Page, who plays Stacey in the hit BBC comedy, will be Dick's love interest Alice Fitzwarren.
She said: "I love panto, it's just so much fun. It's brilliant to see every generation of a family come along and have a really great time together.
"I'm really at home on the stage and love all of the singing, dancing and audience interaction that comes with panto."
The production will run from December 10, 2010, to January 16, 2011. Tickets are available from the box office on 08708 717652 or www.ambassadortickets.com.
Dancing on Ice and X Factor contestant Ray Quinn can be seen in the Royal and Derngate's production of Jack and the Beanstalk from December 10 to January 9.
The favourite tall tale features a larger-than-life beanstalk, lots of laughs, and a very mean giant.
Tickets start at 15, and are available from the Royal and Derngate box office on 01604 624811.
And the Oxford Playhouse will host a production of the classic rags-to-riches story Cinderella, running from December 3 to Sunday, January 16.
Panto-maker and former Blue Peter host Peter Duncan will present his fifth consecutive show, filled with fun, great actors, memorable songs and lots of audience participation.
Tickets are available from the Playhouse box office on 01865 305305.
