Visitors to Winslow welcomed two stars from pantomine for this year’s Christmas lights switch-on on Thursday last week.
Mayor David Barry was joined by Sleeping Beauty stars Graham Kent and Christian Lund, who play Nurse Molly Coddle and the Prince in the production at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre.
Mr Barry told the Advertiser and Review: “I don’t know the exact figures but it was certainly the biggest crowd I’ve ever seen down in the market square.
“It was a great night. Christian sang a song and the crowd loved it.
“I thoroughly enjoyed it and everyone else seemed to as well, and of course the kids loved seeing the reindeer.”
There were more festive treats on offer from the Christmas market, including Santa’s grotto and a carol service.
Deli Estrella owner, Helen Knight said: “There were around 10 stalls selling different items such as Christmas gifts, cards and decorations, food stalls including the hog roast. There was also mulled wine, Fair Trade gifts on offer and a charity stall.
“I think overall it was very successful – everyone seemed happy with the event.”
Winslow’s Scotts Trading Co claimed the award for the best dressed window competition with their theme of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.
