TOTS who had proudly grown a large pumpkin for Hallowe’en were left heartbroken after yobs launched a spiteful attack last week.

Children arriving at the Child First Day Nursery in Launton Road last Thursday found one of their pumpkins had been stolen and kicked to bits.

Nursery manager Andrea Leonard said: “It’s just so annoying. We found it smashed to pieces in Garth Park next door. It’s just mindless vandalism.”

She added: “They’d climbed over a big fence to get in. We were just worried they would come back and smash the other ones.”

The nursery grows its own fruit and vegetables in the back garden, and each of the four rooms at the nursery had been responsible for growing its own pumpkin from seed for Hallowe’en.
