Phoenixbury Festival rises from the ashes
A line-up of 20 bands will play at the relaunch of Steeple Claydon's Phoenixbury music festival on July 2, 3 and 4.
The three-day music festival outside the Phoenix pub in Queen Catherine Road has been resurrected by landlady Jo Sadler-Baughan after a break of several years.
The event will raise money for the MS Chiltern Centre in Aylesbury, which offers therapy, advice and support to people diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
Mrs Sadler-Baughan said: "Come and bring a blanket, your dancing feet and your singing voice (or not), and let's try to raise some awareness and funds for this great facility."
She added: "There will be reggae, ska, blues, rock, punk, covers and original songs – every kind of music you can think of."
The event will start at 6pm on the Friday night, and will finish at 8pm on the Sunday.
All the bands involved will give their time free-of-charge, and admission is also free, with a nominal charge of 25p for a programme detailing the weekend's line-up.
Other entertainment will include performances by local dance groups, and the crowning of the Steeple Claydon fayre queen will be held on the Saturday afternoon.
A barbecue will offer food all weekend, and a pig roast will be held on the Saturday afternoon.
Children's stalls, a bouncy castle, face painting and art and craft sessions in the afternoons will help keep young visitors entertained.
Special T-shirts will also be on sale to raise money for the cause.
Local resident Doug Carter has kindly allowed organisers to use one of his fields for parking, and spaces will be available for 1.
