Police are continuing to appeal for the public’s help to trace a wanted man who absconded from prison.
Darren Douglas, aged 46, originally from Birmingham, absconded from HMP Springhill open prison, in Grendon Underwood, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
He was serving a life sentence for committing a murder in Birmingham in 1998, where he stabbed a man during an altercation outside a pub.
A second man who also absconded from Springhill, Ricardo Dunn, aged 32, formerly of Burnley, Lancashire, was arrested by Thames Valley Police officers in Aylesbury on Wednesday night.
Aylesbury LPA commander Supt Gez Chiariello said: “We are continuing to ask the public for vigilance and to contact us immediately if they see Douglas.
“We have some information that Douglas may still be in the Aylesbury area and so I urge anyone who may have information on his whereabouts to let us know.
“He is violent offender so I would advise anyone who sees him not to approach him.
“We have a large number of officers dedicated to this investigation and significant resources patrolling Aylesbury. We will continue in this relentless search to apprehend Douglas and ensure he is brought to justice.
