AYLESBURY Vale Community Safety Partnership is launching a new campaign to encourage young people to stay safe on a night out.

The poster campaign, which promotes personal safety, sensible drinking and safe travel, will target 18 to 30-year-olds.

Posters will be put up on the backs of toilet doors in pubs, bars and clubs across the Vale and will also be on display in the University of Buckingham, Aylesbury College and sixth form common rooms.

They contain QR codes, which can be scanned by a smartphone and will direct people to the web page www.aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk/community-living which provides tips on staying safe on a night out.

These include staying with friends, thinking about what you drink and using a licensed taxi or minicab firm.

AVDC cabinet member for community matters Pam Pearce said: “We know that most people act responsibly on a night out but, sadly, we do see cases where people have too much to drink, become confused and can’t get home because they have been separated from friends. Others fall prey to criminals who target vulnerable people.”
