Pupils were given an insight into the most cutting edge technology at the Mercedes AMG Petrona Formula One Team factory.

The 2014 F1 Constructors Championship winners invited pupils from Akeley Wood School to tour their Brackley facility.

Pupils visited the factory and toured many areas of the operation, including the wind tunnel, autoclaves and design
office.

The pupils were given explanations from race engineers and manufacturing specialists as to just how precise the F1 industry is.

Pupils came away from the day with a thorough understanding of which careers are available in a Formula One team and their respective pathways.

This knowledge is especially important as the school’s surrounding area is often referred to ‘Motorsport Valley’, which runs throughout the Midlands and includes Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.
