A 49-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drug offences after a police raid on a cannabis factory in Brackley this week.

On Wednesday afternoon officers on the Brackley Safer Community team carried out a search of the home in Laws Croft in the west of the town following reports of a strange smell and suspicious circumstances in the area.

They removed 180 mature cannabis plants from the property and seized a vehicle.

A police guard was put in place overnight and a forensic examination was carried out this morning, Thursday.

Sergeant Steve Neal, of the South Northamptonshire Safer Community Team in Brackley, said they will not tolerate drug offences in Brackley and added: “Where intelligence suggests this activity is taking place, we will seek to gain the necessary evidence to support criminal charges. By working together, we can help all concerned.”

A police spokesman said a local man was currently in custody at the Criminal Justice Centre in Northampton.

Anyone with further information, should call Northants Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
