AROUND 400 visitors to Evenley Wood Garden were given a rare treat when a cooperative of nurseries held a plant fair this month.
The Rare Plant Fair is a cooperative of growers specialising in species not normally found in garden centres and has chosen to come back to Evenley for the last four years. This year 19 different nurseries were represented.
Head gardener Mike Fisher said: “It was just a lovely day, we couldn’t have asked for better weather. So many people come along. They not only had a chance to look at and buy plants, but had a chance to walk around the gardens.
“It was lovely to see so many people enjoying themselves.
“And the big advantage of the fair is the stall holders propagate their own plants and are able to give the very best advice to buyers.”
The next event at Evenley Wood Gardens will be a Lily Fair on Saturday, July 14.
