A Bicester-based production company will host a red carpet fashion event in the town on February 1 to showcase local talent and raise money for charity at the same time.
Flying Lion Productions and Entertainment is a daughter company of fashion brand Di Gran Moda, and has been producing Bollywood films in India for the past few years.
The firm is encouraging young designers, models, make-up artists and stylists to attend a selection phase for the event, with a view to having their creative talents showcased on the night.
Twenty models will be chosen during the initial phase and will wear the chosen designers’ and stylists’ products.
On the night of the event, those taking part will be judged in three categories: best design, best male model and best female model.
Mayor of Bicester Melanie Magee (pictured with her daughter)will be chief guest and the fashion show will be hosted by a celebrity, who has yet to be announced.
Mrs Magee said:“I’m keen to support the event as I have an interest in clothing and my mayoral ball gown was designed and made last month by Sarah Bond, Rebecca Harding and Shannon Kelly from Bicester, all of whom are fashion design students at Banbury & Bicester College, and as a result, they are looking to undertake commissions.
“Such an event gives a platform for their creativity to develop into a business and to enable them to break into the industry.
“Similarly my mother designed and made clothes when I was growing up.
“The event will be raising money for local charities which I’m very keen to support.”
The Bicester Fashion Extravaganza will take place at the John Paul II Centre, on the Causeway, in Bicester, from 6pm.
