Bicester members of the 41 Club looked after a team of sore-legged cyclists at the end of the first stage of a Birmingham to Paris ride on Friday.

The Red Windmill team, made up of Derek Dolan, James Thompson, Lee McLoughlan, Spencer Parkes, James Gregory and Barry Durman, all have links to the Rotary Club and its older brother, the 41 Club.

Bicester 41 Club chairman Chris Dalby and his wife Rachel, together with Matt and Sam Fincham, and their friends Brian and Phoebe Davies, hosted team members at the end of the first leg of the 420-mile charity ride.

The team also got a £250 donation from Bicester’s Specsavers Opticians, as Mr Parkes is store director of Specsavers’ Solihull branch.
