A 17-year-old singer from East Claydon has won a place in the regional finals of the Open Mic UK competition.
Amelia Barnard, who is head girl at Buckingham School, will perform in front of an audience and a professional judging panel in Milton Keynes next Saturday, October 12, after impressing judges in the auditions of the competition.
The singer, who has appeared at Buckingham’s Music in the Market, wants local people to come and show their support.
Success at the regional stage could ultimately see her perform at the 2013 grand final at the O2 Arena.
She said: “This is an amazing opportunity for me and I’m not going to let it slide so I’m definitely going to put 100 per cent into it.”
