A national charity’s campaign to protect residents from unscrupulous landlords is being backed by Cherwell District Council.
The Evict Rogue Landlords scheme, launched by housing charity Shelter, aims to ensure rented housing is in an acceptable condition.
Councillor Debbie Pickford, lead member for housing, said: “Most landlords in Cherwell are doing a decent job and we want to support them in that.
“The few who don’t are harming tenants’ health, getting an unfair advantage by providing poor quality accommodation and are damaging the reputation of good private rented sector landlords.”
The campaign encourages councils to prosecute landlords who flout the law and give more support to tenants who complain.
