A Roman wall uncovered during major building works in Towcester will be re-covered to ensure its preservation.

Following advice from English Heritage, the section of stone wall, which was revealed during excavations for the Moat Lane Regeneration project, will be buried in a special sand to prevent further damage from adverse weather conditions.

The wall has been fully investigated by county archaeologist Lesley Ann Mather and now a meeting with interested parties will be held to decide on its long-term future.

The multi-million pound Moat Lane Project includes plans for a modern library, a registrar, adult learning facilities, South Northamptonshire Council offices, and a community space for meetings and exhibitions.
