Buckingham Rugby Club is launching a new scheme to stop people being tempted to drink and drive, by joining up with a local taxi firm.
On Saturday, the rugby club launches a high-profile partnership with Buckingham-based A.K. Taxis to help people get home safely.
Anyone booking a taxi from the club with A.K. Taxis will now enjoy a discounted rate.
As well as its members, the club plays host to thousands of visitors attending weddings, parties and other functions, in addition to its summer ball in June and its beer festival which attracts 1,500 people.
Rugby club sponsorship manager Patrick Ockenden said: “At Buckingham Rugby Club we realise the dangers of drink driving and we have decided to run a ‘Don’t drink and drive’ campaign to highlight the dangers to all visitors.
“With the festive season in full swing, we know people like to enjoy a drink but we want to ensure they don’t run the risk of driving home. So we have partnered with A.K. Taxis in Buckingham who are our ‘recommended taxi partner’. They are a well-established taxi firm in the town and they provide a great service with over 20 licensed drivers.
“We hope highlighting the dangers will make people think twice about driving after having a drink and will mean visitors to the club will get an A.K. taxi home safely.”
