Another name will added to the honour roll during Brackley’s Remembrance Day service following the death for a former town resident in Afghanistan last week.

The Ministry of Defence has confirmed the death of Captain James Anthony Townley from the Corps of Royal Engineers.

Cpt Townley once lived in Brackley and Helmdon with his parents and brother.

Brackley Mayor Chris Cartmell was neighbour to the family and said there will be many in the area who still remember them.

He added: “Our thoughts are with his family. We will mention his name at our Remembrance Day Service.”

Cpt Townley, leaves behind his parents, Peter and Jacqui, his brother, Nick, and girlfriend, Helen.

In a statement they said: “His loss has left a huge chasm that we can never fill.

“James will never be forgotten and always in our hearts and thoughts.”
