More than 350 callers have now contacted Oxfordshire County Council with flooding concerns after heavy downpours over the last two days.

Flooding was reported on roads around villages including Fritwell and Yarnton, and small numbers of sandbags were distributed in a dozen towns and villages including Fewcott and Fritwell.

Emergency planning officer Bethan Morgan said: “There was a pretty heavy bout of rain in a short space of time and as ever in such circumstances this type of thing can lead to flooding issues on road surfaces.

“Issues have been very localised although all agencies are keeping a watching brief on the situation now and in coming days.”
