TOWCESTER’S county councillor has announced that 86 per cent of primary school children will go to their first choice secondary school.
Letters were sent to 7,350 parents yesterday, Thursday, March 1, detailing which school they have been offered and details of parent information events.
Andrew Grant, Northants County Council’s cabinet member for learning, said: “Early figures show that 98 per cent of pupils have been allocated one of their three preferences, with 86 per cent receiving their first preference.”
He added: “I would urge anyone who may be considering an appeal to come along to one of the two information events that have been organised for more advice about the options available to them.”
An event at Sixfield Stadium between midday and 7pm on Thursday March 8, will include information about appeals, and free school meals.
