Beavers and Cubs from the 3rd Bicester (Glory Farm) Scouts celebrated the group’s 30th anniversary this week with an evening of water games.
Founded in 1983, over the years the 3rd Bicester Scout Group has helped hundreds of young people learn a wide variety of skills, from traditional scouting staples such as camping to adrenaline-fuelled adventures like quad biking and abseiling.
Beaver Scout Leader, Lynne Keen, said: “We’ve had another fantastic year, with the group recently attending the largest-ever gathering of Scouts in Oxfordshire – the One World County Camp – with over 4,700 other Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.”
Other highlights included a nine-mile hike over the Ridgeway in February, a sponsored cycle ride in June, and an invitation to the town’s new Vue cinema.
The scout group is keen to hear from past members, leaders and volunteers who would like to share their memories of the last thirty years. Email 3rdBicesterBeavers@northoxfordshirescouts.org.uk for details.
