More than 40 local Scouts from Tingewick, Buckingham, Maids Moreton, Marsh Gibbon, Quainton and Grendon Underwood held a water-based challenge day at Dovecot Lake, Calvert, earlier this month.
Every Scout had the opportunity to build and test a raft, try their skill at rigging and navigating a sailing dinghy and paddling a canoe on the windy waters of the lake.
The cold morning gave way to a sunny afternoon and the Scouts were supported by a team of leaders who helped them develop their skills on the water.
And while some of the Scouts did capsize their craft, the experience provided an excellent opportunity to learn how to rescue each other and right and return to their craft.
The Scout district is always looking for leaders to join its various Scout groups.
Anyone who would like to find out more about what is involved can contact district scout commissioner Paul Ketteridge on 01296 670663.
