BUCKINGHAM’S two county councillors have given a total of £1,600 to Ist Maids Moreton Scouts towards buying a new trailer.

County councillor for Buckingham North David Polhill and county councillor for Buckingham South Hedley Cadd saw our report in the Advertiser in January, after thieves stole the scout troop’s trailer from the troop’s field in Akeley.

The trailer, donated to the troop by the previous scout leader Ian Miles, was used to transport equipment for camps and other activities.

At the time, scout leader Doug Newman said the troop was raising money to make improvements to its wooden scout hut, which was “falling apart”, and couldn’t afford a new trailer.

Mr Polhill and Mr Cadd have each contributed a donation from their Community Leaders Fund.

Mr Polhill donated £1,000 and Mr Cadd donated £600, and the cheque was donated to the scouts last month.
