The hunt is on once again to find individuals or organisations in the Vale of Aylesbury who go that extra mile for the environment

Support Aylesbury Vale’s Environment (SAVE) will be 20 years old in 2014 and has identified over 100 SAVE Award winners since 2000, awarded over £40,000 in grants (no longer available) and worked with several other Aylesbury Vale community organisations including a healthy Transition Town movement and local parishes.

They are now looking for nominations for the next SAVE Awards in April 2013.

SAVE secretary Robert Smart said: “There’s no money, it is simple recognition. But we realised a long time ago there is an awful lot of good practice in the Buckingham and the Vale that needs highlighting.”

SAVE Awards are given to local residents, groups or individuals who have brought about significant environmental or community benefit to the Vale. The awards seek to identify and promote local activity which results in a lasting environmental protection or improvement. Businesses will be considered where the activity is additional to products or services or where they excel in environmental management.

To make a nomination call Mr Smart during working hours on 01296 585147 or email rsmart@aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk. SAVE was formed after 1994 Rio Summit to make a local contribution towards global CO2 reduction targets.
