Bicester residents are being urged to sign up to vote ahead of elections for the new police and crime commissioners.
On November 15, people across the country will be asked to elect police and crime commissioners, who will be accountable for how crime is dealt with in their police force area.
Electoral registration forms have already gone out to all homes in the district, and reminders have now been posted to those who have not yet replied.
Cherwell District Council (CDC) spokesman James Doble said: “This is the only way people can ensure they have a voice in the upcoming elections.
“But registration is equally important for anyone who does not plan to vote, as the electoral register is widely used by credit-checking agencies.
“Those who are found not to be on the register might be refused credit or even mobile phone contracts.”
Freephone and mobile options are available for those wishing to confirm their details. Visit CDC’s website or contact staff on 01295 227005 for more information.
