Padbury-based charity Brain Tumour Research has welcomed soap star Bill Tarmey as its new patron.

The actor, who played Jack Duckworth in Coronation Street, will be supporting the charity after his son, Carl Piddington, was diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour two years ago. Carl has had to undergo two craniotomies as well as chemotherapy and radiotherapy and now lives with regular seizures.
