PLUM APPEAL: A local gin-maker is putting out an SOS for plums and damsons.

Nick Radclyffe of Foxdenton says there’s a dire shortage of both fruits this year, due to a frost which blighted the flowers.

His own trees would normally produce 50kg of fruit towards the firm’s Winslow Plum Gin, but this year he has none at all.

The firm will pay £1 per kilo of dark red or purple plums or damsons, and can collect, but it can’t pick the fruit. Call Mr Radclyffe or Virginia Curzon-Berners on 01280 824855.
