A former captain of the England cricket team was in town to help pupils celebrate their achievements.
Magdalen College School welcomed Dr Jane Powell for the evening and appointed her as a governor.
Powell (pictured with head of sixth form Sara Clitheroe, former head girl Megan Knowelden, Louise Stephens-Mahoney and Beth Stephens) played in six Test matches and 24 One Day Internationals for England in the 1980s.
But she boasts a wealth of international sporting experience having also represented England in hockey and badminton.
After retiring from cricket, Powell coached the England cricket team and then moved to hockey where she was a key member of the backroom staff for London 2012 where the men’s team finished fourth and the women’s team scooped the bronze.
She has recently switched sports again and now heads up national talent development for English Lacrosse.
Powell presented students past and present with their A-level, GCSE and Duke of Edinburgh awards and certificates.
