STALWARTS of Syresham were given a day to remember after being invited to have tea with the Queen.

Last month Ruth Grovell of the village store and post office and Christina Munsey, the Advertiser’s village correspondent and Scarecrow Festival organiser enjoyed a regal afternoon in the grounds of Buckingham Palace.

Photography is banned within the palace grounds but the ladies are pictured here queuing outside the famous gates.

Mrs Munsey said: “It was brilliant, really exciting, I just felt quiet privileged to have the opportunity to go.”

Mrs Grovell said: “It was very nice, a real day to remember.”

The ladies were nominated for the Royal invite by a village resident who did not want to be named but did tell them it was because of their work supporting the community. The nomination was then forwarded to the Queen by Lady Juliet Townsend.
