NORTHANTS Police’s annual crack down on drink driving has seen the number of arrests jump by a fifth.
In the first three weeks of Christmas crack down the force has arrested 76 drivers, up from 63 at this point last year.
Deputy Chief Constable Suzette Davenport said: “Christmas is a time for family and friends. No officer wants to have to knock on someone’s door and deliver the message that a loved one has died or been seriously injured at the hands of a drink or drug driver. If you drink alcohol or take drugs before driving, we will be looking for you.”
In the whole of last year’s campaign, 1,066 breath tests were carried out with 95 arrests. Report drink drivers via the Drivewatch Hotline on 0800 174615.
