CREWING arrangements for Buckingham Fire Station are under review.
Currently, the station is staffed during the day by a crew of full-time firefighters, with night cover provided by the same crew on an on-call basis. It also uses a second crew of retained duty system (RDS) firefighters on an on-call basis.
Now Bucks & Milton Keynes Fire Authority has given the go-ahead for work to start on the review, proposed in the Public Safety Plan, the draft five-year blueprint for the future of Bucks Fire & Rescue Service.
The review will include considering the impact of making changes to crewing arrangements, such as changing the balance between full-time and part-time, RDS firefighter cover.
A report on the reviews will be taken to the fire authority’s budget-setting meeting in February.
