HERITAGE: A regional archeologist will visit Towcester in September to help historians explore a newly restored building within the grounds of Stowe House.

This year the restoration of the New Inn was completed and is acting at the National Trust’s visitor centre and cafe for those visiting Stowe Landscape Gardens.

Gary Marshall, the NT’s regional archaeologist will explain how the inn was built in 1717 for visitors to the gardens and to house any overspill from the main house during a presentation to the Towcester and District History Society.

The building has been altered very little since construction and its restoration not only revealed evidence of its structure, but also the furnishings..

Mr Marshall will deliver his presentation on Wednesday, September 12, at the Riverside Centre in Islington Road from 7.30pm. Tickets for non-members cost £2.
