PEOPLE in Winslow are reeling following the death of a popular teenager.

Jack Watts, aged 18, was found dead on Monday afternoon in Winslow.

Police Insp Emma Garside said: “There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted for the coroner.”

Flowers have been left at a rural site in Winslow and tributes are pouring in to a Facebook page in Jack’s memory, called R.I.P. Jack Watts

Local PC Martin Siderman said: “It’s terrible for the kids, they’re genuinely upset. There are kids in tears in Winslow.”

And he added: “I’m genuinely sad, he was such a nice lad. He was very eloquent, bright and personable. I don’t think you’ll hear one bad word against him.

“I know he is genuinely missed by the young people of the town.”

Mayor of Winslow Llew Monger was shocked to hear the news.

He said: “I’m genuinely sad. He really was a nice young man.

“He led the group that came to council 18 months ago to make the case for a youth shelter. He had put a complete presentation package together to illustrate the benefits to the town. I was genuinely impressed with the way he led the group. He took a real interest, and he was good at it.

“It’s such a loss.”
